In September 2016, the Viedoc™ (OUS) data collection tool (eCRF) for clinical trials was approved by OUS, and approval from the other Data Protection Officers at the university hospitals is expected soon.
Viedoc™ is an online solution for data collection that satisfies requirements for clinical trials. The solution also has a module for gathering patient-reported data via PC, mobile or tablet. The Research Support Department at OUS sets up trials in Viedoc™, and can also perform data management tasks such as data control, coding, writing data management documentation etc. The solution is cost-based. You can read more about Viedoc here.
OUS has other data collection tools, which are described under registry support.
NTNU offers WebCRF, which has been used in many national and international trials, and WebCRF version 3 has the functionality required for clinical trials. For researchers from Central Norway, the solution is provided free of charge. Researchers based outside the Central Norway health region must cover direct costs (NOK 10,000–40,000). The project is usually ready for testing after two weeks. Read more about WebCRF.
The University Hospital of North Norway (UNN) has started using REDCap as a data collection tool. REDCap was developed by Vanderbilt University in the USA, and it is currently used by over 3,000 institutions in 125 countries. Read more about REDCap here.
REDCap is approved by the Data Protection Officer at UNN and is offered to trials that are based at UNN or Finnmark Hospital Trust. REDCap can also be offered to multicentre trials where UNN or Finnmark Hospital Trust is the main sponsor.
OUS, NTNU and UNN offer randomisation solutions for clinical trials.
Information about the various solutions is continuously updated.
